  2. Kia Ora Filipe,

It is awesome to see that you have posted another activity for the Summer Learning Journey programme. I would also love to go and see Tane Mahuta. I think that it would be pretty amazing to view a tree that was over 1000 years old. Now that is pretty ancient, isn't it?

I wonder what New Zealand (NZ) was like 1000 years ago. Do you think that it would be quite different to modern day NZ? I wish that I could travel back in time to see what life was really like so many years ago. Would you like to travel through time? If so, what period of time in our history would you most like to visit?

I hope that you are having a great holiday! If you have time, please feel free to post another SLJ activity. We'll come back to see if you have added anything to your blog very soon.

    Bye for now!

    Cheers,
    Rachel :)

  3. Kia ora Filipe!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR for 2019!

Great to see that you have joined the Summer Learning Journey over the holidays. I enjoyed reading this post about Tane Mahuta. It reminded of the times I used to visit my aunty and uncle who live at the beach nearby in a place called Omamari.

To see Tane Mahuta, you drive through the Waipoua Forest and follow a special track off the main road, through lots of trees and ferns and eventually you get to see the amazing kauri tree in front of you.

It is hard to know where to look first. The base of the tree is so wide there is no way to wrap your arms around it. Then as you follow the trunk up with your eyes and it seems like it goes on forever.

Tane Mahuta is a very special taonga that has been around for over 1000 years. I hope you get to see it one day for yourself. Do you have any plans to do see some other parts of NZ this holidays? I remember last year you went to Hot Water Beach in the Coromandel.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays - I look forward so reading more of your SLJ posts over the next few weeks.

    Take care,
    Ms. Tapuke
